Restaurants Uncovered: Pasta Pomodoro
Despite hearing a lot about the casual Italian chain, Pasta Pomodoro, I had always been hesitant to visit, mainly because I have a hard time controlling my appetite around pasta.
A few weeks ago, I dined there for the first time and was very pleasantly surprised. Not only did they have a varied and expansive menu, they have more than a handful of very healthy selections and post the calorie information right on their menus!
Check out this sampling from their dinner menu.
I was overwhelmed with healthy, calorie-friendly choices.
Ultimately I was in a pasta mood, so I went with the Healthy Chicken:
My not-so-calorie-conscious dining partner went with a more traditional route:

He was not deterred by the higher calorie count and enjoyed every bite. I think this should serve as a good example to restaurants when posting calorie information: people will order what they want to eat, they just like to know what they’re eating!
Question of the Day
On pasta: wholegrain or traditional white? I love it when restaurants offer wholegrain!

I like that Pasta Pomodoro has healthy choices and lists the calories! I have gotten the “Healthy Fish” before and enjoyed it. And yes, I love it when there is a choice of wholegrain pasta. I may not always choose it, but it’s very nice when it’s available… BTW, my dining partner chose the exact same dish as yours the last time we ate there!
whole grain baby!! haha but am i allowed to say that i really love spaghetti squash…
hahaha great review girl
Gracious! Since when does a grilled chicken breast have 700 calories. I’m going to hide under a rock!
I love whole grain because it’s nuttier tasting. I like reading calories on menus because I’m nuttier than most people. Period.
But it is rather daunting and I probably would tweak what I order and do my usual routine “less oil, sauce on the side, dressing on the side, cheese/bacon/insert undisclosed high cal diet wrecking food here…on the side” This is why I have such a hard time keeping my weight down when I’m eating out a lot- even the ‘good’ foods are high high high!
